A British company was fined for putting workers at risk for asbestos exposure. Even though it happened in England, it could happen anywhere -- New England, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, anywhere.
What happened is while there was site refurbishing going on including the removal of large amounts of asbestos insulation, there were no safety precautions offered to the workers.
So the workers became exposed as well as the area became contaminated.
The landlord pled guilty and was order to pay a fine and clean up the contamination but how can you ever make it right to the workers who were exposed? Frequently, asbestos cancer and asbestos illnesses happen long after the exposure when it's simply too late.
